Dr. Sarah Hencke

Dr. Sarah Hencke grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She knew from the age of 5-years-old she wanted to become a veterinarian as she has had a deep love for animals her entire life. She grew up taking care of the neighborhood pets as well as her own pets, which varied from cats to fish to hermit crabs, etc. She also loved to help rescue missing pets with her family and she enjoyed watching veterinary television shows any chance she could.

Dr. Hencke attended Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky for her undergraduate studies. She played varsity women’s soccer throughout her college career and won multiple athletic awards both from the college as well from the athletic conference. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in 2016.

After college, Dr. Hencke moved back home for a year to work as a veterinary assistant at a local clinic as she applied to veterinary school. She was then accepted by the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, where she attended vet school and earned her D.V.M in 2021. While in vet school, Dr. Hencke worked as an assistant in the Equine Intensive Care Unit as well as for the Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery team.

She has an adorable mixed breed dog, Chloe, and two loving cats, Grace and Oliver. Dr. Hencke is also engaged and soon-to-be married to her wonderful fiancé, David, who also has two sweet mixed breed dogs, Abe and August. When not at the clinic, Dr. Hencke loves to be outdoors hiking, biking, kayaking, etc. She also loves to travel and spend time with her friends and family.

Dr. Hencke is happy to see your pets and provide care for them! Her special interests within veterinary medicine include preventative care, soft tissue surgery, and she loves a good puppy/kitten visit (but who wouldn’t!).
