Microchipping

One of the worst feelings to experience as a pet owner is a realization that your dog or cat has gone missing. Only 17% of dogs and 2% of cats make it back to their owners—which can make it feel like you’ll never see your pet again if they get lost.

Benefits of Microchipping

Cleveland Road Animal Hospital wants to encourage you to consider microchipping your pet, even if they live entirely indoors–because even indoor pets can escape and become lost. Unlike collars and tags, microchips can’t fall off and they serve as permanent identification for a pet’s entire life. Microchips are also rated for 25 years, meaning they never need to be removed or recharged during your pet’s lifetime.

Is Microchipping Safe for My Pet?

Microchipping a pet is simple, simple, relatively painless and very affordable. Once implanted, authorities only need to scan the chip to locate your information. But remember: a microchip is only useful if your contact information is updated.

Cleveland Road Animal Hospital believes microchipping is the safest, most effective method of pet recovery available, helping reunite more than 15,000 lost pets to their owners every month. To get your pet “chipped”, request an appointment online or call us at 330-345-6063.

Reunited Thanks to PetLink!

On July 4th 2021, our cat was scared by fireworks to the point of getting out of his normal routine and could never find his way home. He always came home every night. For months I would go walking around our neighborhood in his normal hiding spaces and never found him. Weeks, months went by and I was sure he had died. Sunday night, I got a call from pet link that someone had found him alive! We called the operator and was given a phone number to a wonderful woman who had noticed Reingar in the neighborhood and thought he was a stray. Out of the goodness of her heart, she took him in to get scanned and blessed our lives forever. He made it 7 miles away from our home within the months he was gone! We were also impressed that he had gained a lot of weight and seemed relatively healthy from being a stray cat for so long. The pain of his absence ceased, and we are forever grateful we microchipped each of our animals as we would have never been reunited with our sweet cat. Thank you PetLink!
