Preventative Care

The Physical Exam

The single most valuable service a veterinarian can offer your pet is a physical exam.  A Google search or phone call simply cannot replace the expert information you will gain from a complete, hands-on physical exam and conversation with your veterinarian.  At Cleveland Road Animal Hospital, we pride ourselves on doing a very thorough physical exam every 4 weeks for pets under 4 months, every year for adult patients, and every 6 months for senior pets. We want to catch issues before they become a problem so your pet can stay happy and healthy. Our exams include a thorough nose-to-tail exam. We will examine the oral cavity, eyes, and ears. We will listen to the heart and lungs, and palpate the abdomen for any abnormalities. Orthopedic exams will also be performed on at-risk breeds, older, possible arthritic pets, or whenever warranted or requested. We will address any and all questions and concerns you may have. The doctor will communicate the physical exam findings and his/her recommendations unique for your animal.

Giving every vaccine, to every pet, every year is a thing of the past.  At CRAH, we tailor your pet’s vaccine protocol based on their lifestyle and risks with vaccine intervals that range from from one month to three years.  Every pet and every household has different needs, and we make sure your pet gets the right vaccines at the right time, nothing more, nothing less.  We use the most effective, safest vaccines available today to reduce the risk of reactions. We follow the canine and feline vaccination guidelines established by leaders in the veterinary industry, the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and other advisory organizations.
